Is New Hampshire The Right Place To Call Home?

The globe presents a plethora of places to call home.
This wide range of options can make it difficult to
decide where to live. What types of issues do you
consider when chosing a place to live? Atmoshpere and
area amentities are included on the list as well as the
state of the economy. You need to be able to make enough
money to support yourself and have a pleasant life.
Therefore, you need to determine your potential job
salary in a new place and see if it meets your lifestyle
requirements.
The Census Bureau keeps statistics on the areas of recent
moving activity. California, Florida, Nevada, Georgia,
and Arizona are hot places of growth recently due to their
warmer temperatures. This leaves many East Coast states
scrambling to keep people from moving away. In contrast,
New Hampshire is one East Coast state that doesn't have
to deal with this issue.
In the past New Hampshire was one of the 13 original
colonies. Many of the homes in New Hampshire are centuries
old. Many families have lived in the same area for many
generations. They love New Hampshire and don't intend on
moving away any time in the coming years. This is there
home.
If you are a farmer then you probably don't want to move to
New Hampshire. New Hampshire only has a slight market for
agriculture production. There are dairy products that are
easily produced in the mountains and rocky soil.
In previous centuries, New Hampshire was a manufacturing
titan in the 18th century. It was one of the first areas
in the U.S. to industrialize. At one time, New Hampshire
was deep into textile production. They produced most of
the shoes and clothing that the first generations of
American citizens wore.
The textile industry and jobs of that nature moved to the
southern states and then out to other countries. New
Hampshire bounced back by building a high tech econonmy.
Boston had high taxes that brought investors to the lower
tax state of New Hampshire. Tourism is the number one
profit maker in New Hampshire.
Tourists head to New Hampshire at any time of the year.
You can ski in the winter on the awesome countryside
ski slopes. Hikers head in when the snow melts away.
Hikers, campers, and visitors spend time at Lake
Winnipesaukee and its 240 scenic islands. It is a grand
time for any outdoorsmen.
As far as per capita income is concerned, New Hampshire
ranked 6th in the nation. Residents of the state averaged
$37040 each and the median income for households was at
$49400 in 2004. With an unemployment rate at an impressive
3.6% (well below the national average of 5%), New Hampshire
is one of the more secure places to call home.
During the 1990's, the population of New Hampshire
increased by 11.4%. While not as impressive as some of the
other hot spots around the country, it is nonetheless a
good indication that New Hampshire remains a great place to
call home. For anyone looking for beautiful scenery, a
solid economy, and friendly neighbors, you just cannot beat
all that is New Hampshire.
